The combination is subject to regulatory approvals that could take many months to complete. The transaction is subject to the approval of the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). Until the CMA approves our agreement and the transaction is completed, we will be running the business as usual and will continue to conduct our businesses entirely separately from each other as we do today.

5G Standalone utilises a 5G network core and is required as a first step towards full 5G functionality in mobile networks – different from the 5G network of today, which is built on top of the existing 4G core network.
5G Standalone will enable:
• Ultra-reliable low latency communications with very high responsiveness, connecting people and devices everywhere reliably.
• Large numbers of Internet of Things (IoT) connections in discrete small areas, such as high-tech factories, network orchestration and network slicing.
5G Standalone will enable 5G use cases such as self-driving vehicles and remote healthcare, as well as supporting the development of other new industries such as immersive gaming.
Ultimately, 5G Standalone will enable the UK to do things that are not possible on the 4G network – boosting the economy and solidifying the UK’s role as a tech leader in Europe.

Most standard broadband services send data down a fast fibre-optic cable to the cabinet in your street (FTTC or Fibre To The Cabinet), before a much slower service carries data into your home through copper cables.
When you choose a Full Fibre plan, fibre-optic cable is installed direct into your home, so much higher broadband speeds can be achieved. This is called FTTP, or Fibre To The Premises, and is quite-simply a full fibre-optic connection into your home.

Fixed wireless access, or FWA, is a type of wireless technology that mirrors fixed broadband access using radio frequencies instead of cables. Think of it as home broadband without the wires.
It works in a similar way to Mobile Wi-Fi, but for your entire home. You don’t need a fixed line for it to work, which means you don’t need to pay for a landline. There’s no installation needed either. Just plug and play.
